Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home based, 3 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival
- There is a bus stop 20 metres from the entrance along level paths and there are frequent bus services to Tideswell.
- There are two train stations (Hope (on the Hope Valley line) and Buxton) – both are around 15 minutes away by car.
- We have a website (www.jarethouse.co.uk) with photographs of each guest room, which are situated on the first floor.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- There is ample free car parking on the wide road alongside the premises, with low kerbs and no gradients.
- Assistance with luggage is always offered to all guests.
- The entrance is accessed straight from the pavement via two low steps (3 inches each) and a small door-frame step.
- Guests don’t generally enter the property via the kitchen door but there is a single 7 inch step from the road level to the back patio and two further steps into the house from the patio including a small door frame step.
- Guide dogs are welcome.
Main Entrance & Reception
- Entrance opens into hallway, the guest lounge to the right ( a small 1 inch step exists from the hard wood floor to the carpeted floor) and ahead via a 7 inch step, the dining room.
- Guests escorted to rooms and facilities explained.
- A single 1 inch ‘step’ from dining room into the kitchen (not a public area).
Public Areas – General (Internal)
- Guest dining room has wooden floor.
- Guest lounge has fitted carpets as has the 13 stairs.
- Corridors and guest bedrooms all carpeted. Bathrooms are all tiled.
Public Areas – WC
- Guest bedrooms are en suite but there is no downstairs toilet.
Dining Room
- Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor.
- Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
- Rectangular table has underspace of 76cm high (legs in each corner). All chairs are without arms and can be moved.
- We do not play background music in any public area of the B&B
- Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and all other diets catered for.
- The bed and breakfast is no smoking throughout the premises.
First Floor
- The first floor is accessed via a standard open-tread staircase (13 steps). There is no lift or stair-lift to the first floor.
- At the top of the stairs a five inch step exists from the stair top to the front landing.
- A two-inch step exists from the front landing into the front double room.
- There is level access from the landing to the back double and once on the front landing into the single room.
- All doors to rooms are standard width doors.
Bedrooms
- All 3 bedrooms are on the first floor, with a secure lockable doors to all rooms
- Televisions all have remote controls and teletext/subtitles.
- A floor plan is provided in the room folders so guests can find staff out-of-hours.
- Carpets are all fitted short pile, with tiled floors in bathrooms.
- Lights are fitted with low energy bulbs. The two double rooms have double beds with good access from both sides.
- The single room has a standard single bed with access from one side only.
Bathroom and Shower Facilities
Single room
- The door is a bi-fold door. There is a two inch step into the wet-room bathroom. The floor is slightly sloping to the rear corner to allow for water drainage.
Double Rooms
- Access to both double bathrooms is on the level via bi-fold doors from the room. There are small steps up into the shower cubicles (back double 2 inch, front double 5 inch).
- There are no grab rails or other specific equipment installed in any bathroom.
